Artist Statement
From an early age it has always been my passion to draw. In my childhood I developed a love for animation and the magical world it provides. I find inspiration every day in everything that I see. I am drawn to simplicity, clever design, architecture, our natural world and the human body.
My current work is inspired by classicism and the narrative. I am interested in the effects of light and shade, the rhythm and sensuality found in drapery and the ethereal quality of Italian Renaissance painting. My recent work hinges on the sublime and conjures emotions of time and place.
I consider that I am flexible in my approach to art and prefer to keep an open mind to all methods and genres. Portraiture is of particular interest as it provides that unique quality of revealing the human spirit.
In every piece of work I try to capture a moment or communicate an emotion.
